The Isle of Wight is arguably one of the prettiest islands that the United Kingdom has to offer. Positioned just off the southern coast approximately, 40 minutes away by car ferry, the Isle of Wight benefits from a temperate climate. Gently warmed by the Gulf Stream, which sees off harsh weather, the warmer temperatures allow many unusual plants to grow in the Island’s Micro Climate.
Known as the “Garden Isle” because of its stunning natural beauty and fertile soils, the Isle of Wight is the perfect UK destination for holidays and tourists, catering for all age groups and tastes. The coastline varies from shallow sandy beaches which stretch out for miles at low tides, to the towering white chalk cliffs at Freshwater and Culver. It also offers secluded coves and bays with rock pools and safe bathing, where you might be the only ones sitting on the beach.
The Isle of Wight is just 23 miles by 13 miles and is reached by ferry and hovercraft crossings from Southampton, Lymington, Portsmouth and Southsea. The Isle of Wight offers a holiday for everyone all year round. Walkers and cyclists visit the Island to enjoy over 500 miles of footpaths and bridleways and over 60 visitor attractions, as well as the stunning views, countless pubs and the feeling of freedom that is the Isle of Wight.
